ICC T20 world cup is now just 17 days away. People specially cricket fans are eagerly waiting for it. Originally scheduled to be played in 2020, it was postponed for a year due to COVID-19 pandemic. Like the pandemic has hurt every aspect of life, it effect cricket also due to which t20 world cup was shifted to 2021. It was previously to be played in India but due to rising number of COVID-19 cases, The ICC shift's it to UAE.

As the t20 world cup is just around the corner, we will take a look back at the inaugural tournament which was played in 2007 with South Africa as the host county.

Host: SOUTH AFRICA was chosen as the host nation of the tournament by ICC. Tournament was played between 11 to 24 September at 3 different venues, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg respectively.

Here we will see some highlights of nail biting matches and special performances of the tournament.

MATCH # 1:

SOUTH AFRICA vs WEST INDIES, Johannesburg, group A.

It was the first game of the tournament which was played between West Indies and South Africa. The highlight of the match was the innings of universe boss Chris Gayle. By scoring 117 runs of just 57 balls, he became the first player to score a century in t20 cricket history. It was also the first century of the tournament. But his century goes in vain as H Gibbs score a brilliant 90 of 55 balls and guide his team to victory.
