Pakistan Super League

                PAKISTAN SUPER LEAGUE

It is that time of the year for which every Pakistani and specially every sports loving person waits eagerly. Yes! I am talking about Pakistan Super League (PSL). It has been 6 years when it was started by PCB and now it will be the sixth edition of PSL. In these six years PCB has faced a lot of ups and downs regarding the management of league and importantly on its financial structure. There also have been issues between PCB and team owners but hats off! to PCB that against all odds the way they have organized league in last five years is simply brilliant. And not only that they have also manage to bring cricket back in Pakistan. After that horrible and unforgettable incident which took place in 2009, Pakistan unable to play cricket in there home grounds. But through this brand of Pakistan the cricket is back in the country. After hosting the first four seasons in UAE, PCB was able to successfully host the fifth season entirely in Pakistan and not only in Lahore and Karachi but also in Rawalpindi and Multan. It also not only helped bringing cricket back but also tell the whole world that Pakistan is a very safe country. We should not forget the role of Pakistan’s army and security agencies.
If we talk about the league itself, PSL is one of the best cricket leagues around the world. Consisting of six teams, it had been a very competitive league. So far the six teams are Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators which represent the six different cities of Pakistan. Though PCB has plans to increase the number of teams.

STATISTICAL OVERVIEW OF THE LEAGUE:

*Over all Record:

If we talk about individual season, Islamabad is the only team to win the league twice and Quetta is the most successful team according to win %.

*According to win%.

*Most Runs:
Kamran Akmal has the most runs in PSL up till now followed by our national captain Babar Azam who has the best average among top 5 runs scorers.

*Most Wickets:
So far Wahab Riaz and Hasan Ali are the only bowlers to take more than 50 wickets in the tournament.

Although it had been a very tough year for everybody due to the dangerous pandemic, it had effected cricket also and all cricket is been played behind close doors. But now very few days left for this year’s PSL, the PCB has also confirmed that 20% crowd would be allowed to the stadiums and it is a much relief for the fan’s. We all are now hoping another successful season of PSL to take place with all sort of excitement.
