Quetta Gladiators

                  QUETTA GLADIATORS

If we talk about consistent performances, Quetta Gladiators is the most consistent team of PSL with winning the tournament in 2019 and qualifying for the finals in 2016 and 2017. They also have they highest number of win % in the tournament.

SQUAD: Sarfaraz Ahmed (c), Ben Cutting, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Azam khan, Naseem Shah, Zahid Mahmood, Anwar Ali, Chris Gayle, Tom Banton, Usman Shinwari, Cameron Delport, Qais Ahmad, Abdul Nasir, Saim Ayub, Arish Ali Khan, Dale Steyn, Usman Khan, Faf du Plessis.

CAPTAIN: Sarfaraz Ahmed

COACH: Moin Khan

BEST RESULT: Champions in 2019

THE STAR PERFORMER

Chris Gayle:

After signing for Lahore and Karachi in initial two seasons of league, the universe boss is back once again in PSL. With 13,584 runs and 22 centuries to his name, he is still one of the dangerous batsman in the world. Although, he was not at his best in his last outings in the league but this time with Quetta he will be looking to turn those cards. Averaging more than 30 in BBL, CPL, IPL, BPL and T20 blast, it is not difficult to imagine universe boss producing some match winning performance for Quetta.

Unfortunately for Gladiators, Gayle will not be available for whole season but they have signed Faf du Plessis as his replacement who himself is a very experience t20 player with  nearly 6000 runs.

THE HIDDEN TALENT

Mohammad Hasnain:

Hasnain is one of the best fast bowlers in Pakistan circuit currently. At age of 20, he already have a t20 international hattrick. With 15 wickets in 9 matches last season, he shows his ability that how dangerous he can. Although he did not get enough chances in Pakistan’s national team but he will be eyeing to cement a permanent spot by giving match winning performances this year.

THE EMERGING STAR

Azam Khan:

As the son of legendary player Moin khan, Azam khan faced a lot of criticism on his selection in the team but 2020 turns out to be a breakthrough season for him as he not only give some match winning performances in PSL but also performed well in Lanka premier league and t10 league. Now by performing good in PSL 2021 he would be looking towards his selection in Pakistan team.

TEAM STRENGTHS:

Gladiators have convert one of there weakness into there biggest strength. Apart from Hasnain, no other bowler was able to take enough wickets for Quetta and there second best bowler was Ben Cutting. But this year they not only retained Hasnain and Naseem shah but they also have services of South African legend Dale Steyn and Pakistan’s quick bowler Usman Shinwari. With likes of Nawaz, Qais Ahmad and now Pakistan’s latest leg spin sensation Zahid Mahmood they have also a very strong spin bowling attack. So it would not be wrong if we say Quetta has one of the best bowling attacks in this years PSL.

WEAKNESS:

The biggest weakness of Quetta last season was there middle order. In 2019 when they lift the cup, with likes of Rossouw , Umar Akmal and Sarfaraz Ahmed there middle order was very strong but now the responsibilities will be once again on the shoulders of there captain. But with the emergence of Azam Khan, they must be a little confident in that area.

Though last year they finish the table with fifth position, Quetta will be looking to turn the tables for them and will once again try to emerge on the top numbers.
